Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary of Mechanical Engineer:
The successful candidate will handle activities for all phases of mechanical design. The ideal candidate will have 3D modeling/2D drafting experience, be able to utilize client specifications, and have or will be actively working towards obtaining their PE license.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Mechanical Engineer:
- Produce pressure vessel design utilizing ASME BPVC and end user standards.
- Provide mechanical engineering support for NBIC re-rates, alterations, repairs, and design of new pressure vessels and piping systems.
- Develop engineering calculation packages and construction drawings for vessels and fixed equipment including boilers, piping, tanks, exchangers, etc., in accordance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, TEMA, NBIC, API, jurisdictional requirements).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Provide general engineering support for field services provided by UPSIS.
- Preferred experience with engineering and design of API 650 storage tanks.
- Preferred experience with pipe stress analysis.
- Preferred experience with finite element analysis.
- Familiarity with bolting techniques and ability to provide field support for fastened coections.
- General knowledge of standard NDE techniques and applications.
Qualifications and Experience of Mechanical Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
- Registered as an EIT with the Texas Board of Professional Engineers; nearing PE licensure is a plus.
- 8+ years of industry experience in fixed equipment design, fabrication, repairs, and alterations.
- Experience or knowledge in inspection of vessels, tanks, and piping.
- Knowledge of ASME BPVC Section 8 Div. 1 and ASME B31.3.
- Proficiency with pressure vessel design software (Codeware COMPRESS preferred).
- Drafting experience and ability to produce drawings.
- Preferred experience in pipe stress analysis.
- Preferred experience with ASME BPVC Section 8 Div. 2.
- Preferred experience with API standards.
- Preferred knowledge in working with point cloud data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Attention to detail to ensure high quality standards.
- Ability to pass drug screen and background check.
- TWIC and Basic Plus certifications required for this facility.
